What are the problems with D50 RAW? I only shoot RAW and haven't had any problems. I will say, though, that I have nothing to compare it to. I've been digital for less than a month but I'm using the D50 daily for everything from business portraits on location, to sports, to studio glamour, you name it.
Or maybe I'd be all the better for it if I don't know.

My mistake. I thought they took that away. After checking the DPReview comparison between the D50/70, it appears the only points are a slightly softer anti-aliasing filter (offset by less noise at higher ISO) and the lack of a second command dial.
Personally for the glass I shoot, the body is just too small. Ever mount a 28-70mm f/2.8D AFS on the D50? It lacks balance which is a little better on the D70 and far improved on the D200 and D2 family.
YMMV.
