If you're budget minded, I'd suggest looking for a used D100 or D70 from someone upgrading to the D200. Reason being is the D50 just doesn't cut it if you want to move up into shooting RAW. I shot with the D70 for about a year and moved up to the D200. I sold my D70 for <$500 in perfect condition. I know you can find nice D100s around the same price. I still see great photographers making outstanding photographs with that body.
