Yep I've known folks who have made that switch and been happy (although most of this was done prior to the release of the D2X). I also know folks who made that switch and then went back to Nikon. I find much of these comments funny.... A full frame sensor has some great benefits. So does a cropped sensor, it depends what you want from it. Almost any tech product is about compromise, so their is no one does everything perfect product. Do you want less noise at high ISOs? A full frame sensor is the way to go. Do you want a cleaner image at low ISOs? Then it seems Nikon has the advantage. Crop factor/magnification? Well if you shoot wide, full frame is great. If you shoot telephoto, you're gettign free distance with the crop. You can always buy pro wide angle lenses for a LOT less than you can buy pro telephoto lenses. See where I'm going? Neither is better on it's own, it's only better if it suits your work better. As far as richer skin tones go, you might want to read up on that a bit, but that's just my take. Personally, if you can't make great images that you're happy with with a D2X I don't think switching to Canon is going to help. Perhaps there are other things that need to be addressed first. If however you are making stunning photos with the D2X but are interested in certain subtle differences in color or the increased resolution, then the Canon might be right up your alley.

EDIT: Are you shooting RAW? Have you tried changing your tone compensation setting or creating a custom curve?
