Well, it's not L glass and it's not Image Stabilized, but it *is* my first lens with a distance scale/DOF indicator.

Canon 35mm f/2, equivalent to 56mm on a full-frame 35mm camera. I wanted a prime lens I could use in my studio: I love my 50mm f/1.8, but at 80mm equivalent, it was just a little too telephoto-y. Also, based on my experience so far, a somewhat wider lens will be good for action shots (I want to do more environmentals with all these belly dancers my wife knows. I read the reviews first and people generally seemed to like it: although one person compared the sound of its non-USM focusing system to "an angry wasp trapped in a can," my particular example seems to be quite well-behaved. For an APS-C sensor, it gives reasonable DOF control, too:

1/80s at f/2, ISO 800. (It's dark in there.)

Any tips or comments based on experience with this lens or general knowledge would be appreciated.
