The AS-15 adapter is definitely the solution to your PC sync issue. I got one for my D100 and it works flawlessly. Only thing better would be a wireless transmitter (do you hear me Santa?)
Not sure what that 2 degree shift refers to. As for the white balance irregularities ... I've not noticed any issues in my controlled studio environment.
