I've been using Nikons since my dad gave me a Nikkormat FT as a graduation present in 1966. If my eyes could still focus, I'd still be using that or an F3.
If Canon has some particular feature that you think you need, then that's just what you should use. I doubt that either Canon or Nikon is significantly better than the other for what most of the people here shoot.
Glamour photography is an art, the equipment is nowhere near as important as your vision.
