I agree, you want pro features, you pay the pro prices. I just don't think "less camera shake" falls under the category of "pro feature". Its like buying a car and expecting the wheels won't fall off, even on the budget model. Its a pretty basic attribute of the car (or camera).
As for the shutter, I don't know how many exposures they're rated for (does anyone?), but another friend just has his 20D shutter replaced at about 50,000 shots (or so Canon told him, he thinks that's low). I seem to recall my film cameras getting a lot more than that. That's only 1400 rolls of 36 exp film, and as I'm sure I've gotten a lot more than that out of my F100 Nikon.
