The DA is optimized for astrophotography, picks up more in the red spectrum, if I remember correctly. I too switched from Nikon, but I did it in 1972 in a far off exotic land where we shot with more than cameras, after a Nikon let me down. Haven't looked back since and CPS has always taken care of me.

5D is FF and you will retain all your focal lengths, though if it's not L glass, you might pick up your lenses bad points. Not to say all non-L glass is bad, but some of it is and I don't know your lens lineup. 20d at 1.6 factor is great, especially for long lens users.

I'm getting prints for clients up to 24 x 30 from a D60. Fellow Canon shooters at Warner Brothers were getting 20 x 30's back when they were using D30's. Either way, you can't go wrong. Good luck!
