What are you going to do with a 1.6 format camera and a f4 lens?
You've seen the photos of mine, of Andy M's of Allen P's... there is no such thing as "nearly as good as".. when it comes to lens selection..
As a matter of fact,... you could try to pick up a non-IS version on ebay in excelent condition for about the same price as a new f4 version lens..which doesn't even come with a tripod mount, which you will need, believe me, in low light shooting with that lens design..
Better yet, look at the 135mm f2.0 L lens.. it's one of my favorite lenses in my bag.. I use it all the time,...and it smokes the 70-200 f2.8 lens at f2.8 any day.. and is really nice and distinct at f2.0, even on a 1.6 format camera..
with the extra bucks you save, pick up a 100mm f2.0 as well! [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
