the collar mount is for working from a tripod, yes? cuz i rarely go on sticks... or does it connect back to the camera? i confess i've never owned a lens that might require a collar mount. i'm usually shooting in the 35mm to 135mm focal length ranges, and i've done so for just about the entire time i've been shooting SLRs, which is since i was about 12.
