Tim I recomend this lens as a cheaper alterative to a L series lens
I have used this lens on my D30 and my EOS3 it works just as well on both ,
but if you have $1000 coming in shortly the L series is the better lens by far i have seen the quality difference between the 28-135 IS and a 70-200L IS
a much dearer lens but more much better quality by miles. I have a 2nd hand 20-35 L wide and the image improvement has to be seen to be believed.
My advice as I have been in the same position as you save up and get the best glass first, may take longer but the results will speak for themselves.
regards

most of the New Zealand shots were with the 28-135IS
