Browsing for a while & motivated by the excellent work here. Started practicing portrait work and doing adjustments in Photoshop but, when I send them to the lab for printing I'm getting very inconsistent results. I darken an overexposed face but the lab print comes back even hotter or lighter than before the darken adjustment. Seems like all the color is being removed. On other prints my monitor appears to match fairly close so I think that's ok.
I'm a bit confused about how my modes should be setup to make adjustments versus sending them to the print lab. Any ideas what's going on or direction to a good outline of setting up modes to adjust and print?

I'm using a Canon 20D, indoor Novatron strobes, Photoshop CS. I still need to figure out how to add some images to show as examples.

Thanks, JK
