Your images are measured in ppi, which is the available resolution of the image itself. DPI is the resolution available output of the printer and has nothing to do with the image ppi. Except that if the image ppi is very low, like web images are only 72ppi, and the printer reproduces the image at 300 dpi it will only stretch out the image to fit. Just remember, the higher your image ppi the better the print on printers at 300 dpi. An image at 240 ppi will print pretty well on a 300 dpi printer.
