There was a thread about a paga back called "Alien Bees or Novos" which covered much of what you are asking. Once I can afford to spend the money, I want to get a set of three B800's And I'd like to have a couple of their smaller "Brolly Boxes" for location shooting. The B800 is rated at 320 "real" watt-seconds, which is a good choice for most locations. I had an opportunity to shoot with a couple of them in a lighting workshop and am impressed with their size, power, lightness and durability. There are better and more expensive lights around, but the bees are a good choice and the hold their resale value. You will seldom find any on Ebay. When you do, they will bring almost new price.

I love mine. I bought the larger brolly box with it. It works very well for the way I'm using it. The 800 puts out an amazing amount of light. I usually have to cut it down to 1/2 or sometimes even 1/4 power shooting through the brolly box at about 8 feet from the model.
