I'll second the recommendation on the Vivtar 283. I have one for my old Canons. It works great and isn't nearly as expensive as one for the newer cameras. Looks like the lowest priced on I see on EBay at the moment is about $25.00.

For lenses search EBay for Canon and FD. That will turn up the older style lenses. They won't work on the new Canon cameras, so they don't sell for very much anymore. At the moment (ending in about 30 minutes) there is a generic 135mm, f2.8 lense for $15.50, for example. There is also a Canon 70-210 f4 lense sitting at $30. Now, the resale value on any of this isn't going to be very good, but for gear to learn with (as long as you're wanting to shoot film) you can't hardly do better for the money.

I've hung onto my old gear so my son has something to learn with if he decides he's interested.
