Go Ebay and pick up a Vivitar 283 flash to go with that Canon F1 you have, they are great workhorse flash units. As for the lens' its all in the glass and aperature. The better the glass and the larger the aperature the more expensive they will be. If your just starting out and into Portraits, stills and Glamour (anyone jump in and disagree anytime!) go with either a zoom in the range of 70-210mm in a fixed aperature or I work with a older 35-70mm fixed f4 and a 135mm f2.8 and a 200mm f3.5 Seriously though check out Ebay you'll find some great and some not so great bargains and like some others have recommended read anything you can get your hands on.
